09th June 2021 - 3:26 PM

A Hull Advanced Practitioner has been made a Partner at Haxby Group, making him one of the first physiotherapists to be made a GP Practice partner.

James Lyell, a physiotherapist with related neurology expertise, has worked as an Advanced Practitioner at Haxby Group in Hull since 2018. James will continue to work and be based in Hull.

“We are delighted at yet another first in opening up partnership opportunities to great candidates from our wider clinical team and James brings a wealth of skills and experience to the partnership,” said Managing Partner John McEvoy.

Haxby Group began introducing new clinical roles to support doctors as part of a long-term strategy to strengthen its workforce and improve access and services for patients.

James said: “Primary care is changing rapidly and its workforce has modernised. Here at the Haxby Group, we have an increasingly diverse range of professionals as part of our clinical teams.”
“Working alongside doctors, practice nurses and the non-clinical teams, our advanced practitioners provide high quality patient assessment and clinical management, thereby increasing treatment capacity for our communities to ensure local service-user healthcare needs are fully met.

“I am very grateful for this opportunity and I am looking forward to working with all the other GP practices across our Primary Care Network.”
