Training Services

Haxby Group has a strong commitment to education and training. We are proud to be part of the Hull York Medical School and we are a Primary Care Workforce and Training Hub. As well as training GPs and medical students at the practice, we offer placements for nursing students and other health professionals.

Our Apprentice training scheme is also widely recognised as one of the best in the primary care sector and we have a proven track record of moving our new Apprentices into permanent work positions with the Haxby Group. We also have successful training pathways for newly qualified nurses and other allied health professionals new to primary care.

As a Primary Care Workforce and Training Hub in Humber, Coast and Vale we provide training support to a growing network of other local practices, coordinating local workforce schemes on behalf of Health Education England. This includes aiding practices to develop mentors, offer student placements to nurse undergraduates and employ and train newly qualified nurses as General Practice Nurses (GPNs). We also facilitate workforce schemes to develop Health Care Assistant (HCA) apprentices, Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACPs), Physician Associates (PAs) and Trainee Nurse Associates (TNAs).

Building on our strong educational ethos, we have developed a series of practice-based interactive courses for clinicians and support staff. These aim to support practices to develop, maintain and refine the necessary skills crucial to a successful primary care environment. They will assist practices in achieving compliance with CQC and other quality standards. We also offer bespoke training solutions.
